Using ICT outside

Using ICT outside

I was on my way to work one morning and was looking through early years apps on my phone when I came across SKITCH, an app that enables you to annotate photos by text or simply by writing with your finger.  Now I am a bit of a technophobe and always seem to have issues with ICT, however, this was simple and easy to use from the start.

We were heading off to the woods that morning and before we went, I installed the app onto several of the ipads. The children loved it! They were able to annotate their own photos whilst in the woods!  Once back at school they photos were printed for display. Photos are a good way to get some child initiated writing as all children love to talk about their photos and often eager to write about themselves!

I have recently set up a training and consultancy service - Early Years Outdoor Learning - to offer support and training on all things early years but with particular emphasis on outdoor learning.
